If you have psoriasis or eczema, or you suspect that you do, your first thought may be where to go first. Do you wait and hope that the symptoms go away by themselves or visit a dermatologist? Many people can’t afford a visit to the dermatologist, and the doctor is unavailable for weeks. Use the internet to find many websites dedicated to answering people’s questions about psoriasis and eczema.
The websites give you the information you seek about this disorder, such as the causes, the symptoms to look out for, the various treatments available, as well as anything else you may like to know.
No one on these sites will judge you for suffering from psoriasis. Some sufferers feel self-conscious because of the red and flaky patches it leaves on their skin, and it can cause painful itching and burning, which these websites understand. For this reason, you can always be sure that whoever you speak to from the foundation will listen with a caring and sympathetic ear.
Your GP can take you through a wide choice of treatments available to use, each with different strengths depending on how severe your psoriasis and eczema symptoms are. There are types of psoriasis which requires treatment in hospital including the very dangerous Erythrodermic psoriasis.
Milder forms of the disease are the most common and sufferers will have mild symptoms if any. Plaque psoriasis is the most common form with 80% of sufferers having this type.
We cannot prevent ourselves from having an outbreak of psoriasis and there is no permanent cure. The cause of the disease is genetic, passed from generation to generation but in no particular order. However, as the disease can miss several generations, someone in a family may get the disease without knowing any of their family members who had it. The initial outbreak can be caused by several factors including an infection in the throat like tonsillitis, stress or alcohol.
If you are unfortunate enough to suffer from psoriasis or eczema, there is help out there available to you and you will be able to find a treatment that works for you, so don’t despair!
